i have purchased epson l3150 on january and printed around 300 pages ever since i brought this printer it doesnt print well, it prints white pages or just cyan even i gave it i service center but the problem continues .
will you give any troubleshooting suggestion ?

That’s very unfortunate. What did the service centre staff say? It seems like a manufacturing error or print head problem. Have you ever used third party inks? That causes issues like this, sometimes. Since you are still under warranty period I would strongly suggest to reach out to the service team once again and ask them to fix it. You can check here if the warranty is still available.

Quality is similar in all printers since they all use very similar technologies. If you need studio-quality photo printing, I’d suggest you look into photo printers.
In terms of availability of service centres, I’d suggest HP and Canon printers since they have a lot of service centres all over India.
If you want me to pick one, it’d be HP 419.

The thing about printer service (or any electronic product) in India is that the service people come to our home to repair products will be amateurs or guys with some basic knowledge on that particular product. Most of the time. That is the case with most big consumer product companies. Most of the technical issues will be sorted out by senior officers, who know inside out of a product. I will say out of 100 service personnel, 10 will be experts. Bigger their customer base, bigger the number of experts they have. As for Brother, they are still trying to attract customers for their “ink tank” printers in India, so most possibly the service options they have must be limited (not bad, but not as good as giants like HP or Canon). As for your location, I’d say you have an advantage there since Brother has their HQ situated in Mumbai. Still, you can expect a decent quality of service from Brother.

If your main concern is customer support/service options, HP is your best bet because of their nationwide service centres and cheap replacements. Canon comes second in that list.
As for print quality, almost all are using the same mechanism, except Epson, they have an improved Micro Piezo Technology which is supposed to be better than others. Epson L3151 & L3152 are basically the same things, so if you’re planning to buy those, pick whatever is the cheapest.
As for Brother, I am a fan of their products. Their Laser printers are one of the best in the market. Same goes with the Ink tank printers. But you should check for nearby service centres before buying it since they don’t have as much of sophisticated customer support like HP or Canon.
Buying from HP directly, I have never used that option, but I know they use Bluedart. Since I don’t have any information on their service I will refrain from commenting on that topic.
Finally, photo printing. Don’t expect studio-quality photo printing with these printers. I have seen these printers in studios only to print passport size photos (that photo in 5 mins thing). They are decent quality, but certainly not a match for professional photo printing.

HP 515 is a new version and they use a different type of ink (GT 53). HP claims that this new version has better print quality and ink efficiency but it still needs to be proved. HP 419 is a reliable printer, has been in the market for the last 3 years. HP 515 also has Bluetooth connectivity, which I believe is kind of useless when we have WiFi. And I don’t believe the additional 3,000 Rs can be justified with just Bluetooth function and dual-band wifi.
Epson printers have comparatively low cost when printing documents, their patented technology can help them perform well.
I’d suggest HP 419 if you have moderate use. If you need to print high-quality photos then go with Canon G3012.

I’m planning to buy a printer for home use for my daughter (Class 6). Printing will be of moderate quantity, as practically all classes are online and work needs to be printed too. I do not expect a heavy usage of the printer though. I have zeroed down on Epson L 3152, as we use Apple products (macbook air 2017 & ipad pro). Was wondering whether my choice is good or would you recommend any other wireless printer that is having a better compatibility with Apple (macbook air 2017 & ipad pro).

Epson L3152 doesn’t have any compatibility issue with Apple devices. You can print with your MacBook after installing the software from the software CD. For iPad, you can either try iPrint from Epson or AirPrint from Apple. I am not sure about AirPrint compatibility but you can certainly use iPrint. If you are looking for a printer that supports AirPrint, look into HP 419.

In the difference section between Laser and inkjet printers it is mentioned “They might seem more expensive but the cost per page is lower than other printers. ”
So i am wondering if it is also true for comparison with inkjet printer because in email communication with you, told that laser printers have high cost per page.
Also, does brother 710 support Google cloud print/remote print, if not then can we use it somehow with this or any other cloud print application.

Its a typo, what I meant to say was it’s low but not as low as ink tank printer (with tank option) But since the comparison was between inkjet (without tank option) and laser, the later one has the upper hand. Yeah, I messed up a little. I’ll correct it.
Latest laser printers have print cost as low as 40-50 paise. As for the second question, yes, T710W supports AirPrint, Mopria and Google Cloud Print. And also, Brother has its own print application you can use in Android devices.

I donot need wireless printing basically. But in models with Wifi for example Pixma 3010 and pixma 2010, do they have any other major difference in terms of software functionality /print quality / technology?
I am also stuck between choosing between HP, Canon Pixma and Epson. I do understand that HP has better service. But please suggest which would be the best in terms of cost/refill cost/maintenance/durability/software features.
I would be using it basically for home based printing (100-300 pages a week) / decent photos

1. Both of them has the same hardware. The only difference is the wireless connectivity option.
2. t’s hard to pick between HP, Canon and Epson. HP has good service, their replacement parts cost low compared to others, and the print quality with images and documents are decent. Canon also has good customer support, the replace meant parts cost more but less than Epson, and the image printing is slightly better with Canon printers (not up to the studio-quality, but you’ll get decent images). Epson’s print head technology is great at printing documents, decent at printing images and the customer support is available nation-wide.

If you don’t mind me asking, why don’t you go with ink tank printers? For that price, you will get printers like HP 310/315, Canon G2010, Brother T310W and Epson L3110. The only missing thing on these printers will be the wireless connectivity. But the cost per print and printer lifetime will be much better than inkjet printers. And 50-100 prints per month means that you have a decent print requirement, so there’s very little chance for ink clotting.
Or if you’re determined with your decision, I’d recommend HP 5075. A lot of extra features compared to other printers, considering your print requirement I believe those additional features might come in handy. Another suggestion would be Canon E4270; features are very similar to the former one, heard the print cost might be slightly lower for this printer.

I want to buy a printer to print my one year young son photos and to capture all his activities.
Secondary purpose is to do copy, scan my documents as well.
Please help me to decide the right choice of printer,
* my budget is 12000 – 13000 INR
* monthly photos I will print ~ 60 (color) and in some occassion like birthday or any other event, I will print 200-300 photos additionally.
* want good photo print quality, time could be more ( I can adjust on that).
* ink tank & wireless only
and as per me following are my choices:
1) Canon 3000
2) HP 419, HP 415, HP 410 (i have read your post where you compared these three, and just want to confirm that there is no difference in printing quality of photos among these three)
3) DCP 510 (this is the last option, as I heard there may be support issues, as my city is not fixed (currently staying in Bangalore))
What would be good in terms of ink usage if I print 4 photos (6×4) on one A4 OR 4 photos (6×4) on 4 individual 6×4 cards?
Also, if you could please rate them as per the quality of photos they will print.
Looking forward for your expert advise to choose the right printer and do let me know if I do have any other durable product that I can opt for.

I’d suggest you go with Canon G3000 series. Almost all the photographers I know use Canon printers for quick photo printing requirements (like passport size printing). I don’t know if Canon printers have anything special when it comes to photo printing, but I know people using Canon printers for photo printing aren’t disappointed with its quality.
Don’t expect studio quality photos because the colour palette of these printers are very limited. Professional photo printers will have at least 6 different ink slots.
If you’re going to print the way you mentioned in your comment, expect it to run out of ink quickly, because colour photos consume ink like a sponge sucking water. Buy some extra ink bottles just to be sure.
Other printers are great, and I have seen people using these printers for photos-they also look great. But I haven’t seen people recommending these companies for photo printing.

It’s hard to measure page yield of colour printers since requirement will be different according to each user. The manufacturer measures page yield using a standard colour document. The real page yield will be certainly lower than that. If you use ink tank printer for just printing documents (colour or b/w) you can expect a page yield of up to 4,000 pages. But if you print photos regularly, the number will come down to three digits. This is because colour images use a lot of ink, and each photo will consume a considerable amount of ink.
The paper size doesn’t affect ink consumption, but the print area does. 4 x 4R is same as A4. So if you print images in a batch of 4, you might be able to save a small amount of residue ink. Not a great saving, but it might help if you are printing a lot of images.
I would suggest G3010 or G3012 (whichever is available at a lower price)

There are no all-in-one duplex printers under 15,000 Rs. Only automatic duplex printer under 15,000 is Canon G5070; it is a print-only device. The ADF printer I recommend under 15k is Brother DCP-T710w.

Without keeping the Price Differential in mind and just looking at the quality of advantages: Can you please share your experience on the following between these 2 models:
1) Is the presence of the Display in Brother a real big advantage over Epson? (i.e can Blinking lights not communicate effectively the same message?)
2) Is the presence of Email print in Epson a real big advantage over Brother?
3) Is there a perceptible difference in Print Quality (at average setting or Fast Draft setting) between both the printers? – For me this is one big point of consideration.
4) Is the WI-Fi connectivity stable in both Printers or is one better than the other? – For me this is the next big point of consideration
5) Which of these 2 printers has reported more part breakdowns?

I am looking for a home printer for myself and my requirements are:
1. preferably but not mandatorily duplex printing. ADF tray is also optional (as if the printer is not duplex then I have to manually take the print on both sides, so ADF may not work). But still if you think ADF really helps, I am IN for ADF tray.
2. easy cartridge availability online: I don’t want to drive to a local shop to buy the cartridge
3. printing about 200 pages a month – so tank printer may not be really mandatory but open for it if you think its great to have tank printer
4. budget around 9-15K, stretchable if something is really suitable
5. color and wi-fi must
6. I have mac, iphone and ipad. So, it should be compatible with that.
7. I want the printer to be relatively low maintenance. Also, I stay in Gurgaon, so I want the service center availability (I am ok to visit, don’t need home visit) in case printer goes bad.
8. Very typical constraint: my rack allows max dimensions (when printer closed): 440mm * 381 mm* 200 mm. Length max 440mm, width max 381 mm and height max 200mm. My rack is with a moving channel, so I take it out and then printer can open with paper holding tray and then I get enough width and height. The length still is capped at 440mm but after taking out, I get enough width and height for operating the printer to open the top rack or paper tray.
8. My requirement is not photo printing – document printing in black and white and color
