How We Ranked The Printers

We have collected all the information we can find on the internet about ink tank printers that are available on our market and gave them points based on four different metrics.

  1. Our first point metric is the printer specification: Features and specifications are an important aspect of a printer. More features mean easy printing. So we gave higher points for the printers with a lot of features and lower points for the printers with fewer features.
  2. Our second metric is customer response: As you know, customer satisfaction is one of the important things to consider while choosing a printer. To assess customer satisfaction of a printer we went through thousands of customer reviews to analyze the customer perception of a device. So we gave higher points for printers with a lot of happy customers and lower points for printers with very few happy customers
  3. Our third metric is the market price: We all want a printer that is worth every penny we spent. It is difficult to find one ideal price, so we went through hundreds of printers to find certain price points that denote different features. And then we cross-checked those prices with our list of printers to give them points. As per our criteria, printers with a matching price range will have higher points and printers that are well above the price range will have fewer points.
  4. Our last metric is the release date of the printer: Technologies are changing each day and the printing industry is no exception. Our team believe the release date has a lot to do with the technologies used in printers. If the printer is older than 3 years that means the technology might have become obsolete and the newer versions may outperform them. So the printers released in recent years will have higher points and the printers older than three years will have lower points.

This model is a mid-budget offering from HP that has in 3-in-1 function and comes in an attractive black and blue colour. Similar to the other printers in the market, this is multifunction ink tank printer from Hp that comes at a price of around Rs 10000. It can perform functions like Copy, Scan, and Print. It can yield around 6000 pages in black and white and 8000 pages in colour. The printing speed for this printer might be low, but the savings are high. It can print at a speed of around 7.5 ppm on black and 4.5 on colour.

The print cost is very low, which is 10 paisa for black prints and 18 for colour. With a higher resolution print of 4800 x 1200, it can produce some very good high-quality prints. It does lack connectivity options as it only provides USB connectivity. It has a good duty cycle of 1000 prints in a month. HP 319Provides support for both Mac and Windows operating system.

                      • High capacity ink storage providing prints at a very low cost.
                      • Slower print speed seems to be the major disadvantage of the printer.

Important Terms You Should Know Before Buying A Printer

                      1. Cost Per Print

One of the most important things to consider while buying a new printer is its cost per print. CPP or cost per print is the measurement of the cost of printing one page with your chosen printer’s cartridge. It is the cost that determines the recurring cost of your printer. Calculating CPP is pretty simple as well, just divide the printer cartridge/ink price with the page yield for all individual colours and then add up the results. To put it more simply, the higher the CPP of your printer comes out to be, the more printing bill you have to pay each month.

                      2. Print Per Minute (PPM) & Impression Per Minute (IPM)

The speed of a printer is measured using print per minute or ppm. If you do a lot of printing daily, then this is one factor you can’t ignore. Printing speed is different for texts and images, the latter known as impressions per minute or images per minute (IPM).

Both factors measure the number of A4 pages printed in a minute. However, the major difference between the two is that while IPM is a standardized method approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), PPM is not a standardized method and its way of calculation might differ with different manufacturers. The ppm or IPM of any printer is usually printed on its box, and if the box says the PPM is 6, it means that the printer can print up to 6 black ink text pages in a minute. The IPM of a printer is lower than its PPM.

                      3. Page Yield

Page yield measures the number of pages one full tank ink can print. Again, there is a standardized way of calculating page yield and the same has been approved by ISO. Mostly, page yields are determined by printing pages with 5% page coverage. Page coverage is the percentage of the pages covered with toner or ink, and 5% page coverage means only 5% of the page covered by the ink. The page yield will help you in understanding how often you have to refill the ink, and higher page yield means fewer replacements and more time-saving.

                      4. Paper Support

If you are someone who doesn’t only use the standard A4 pages for printing, this feature is an important concern for you while choosing a printer. There are different paper types available for printing, such as envelopes, legal-sized papers, glossy papers, and so on. The printer’s feeding tray should be of the right size to support different types of sheets without any hassles. If your printer supports non-standard papers, you can print the same by specifying the paper size in the print screen option.

                      5. OS Support

A vital factor to consider while buying a printer is whether it supports your device’s Operating System (OS). Usually, the printers provide support to the OS generation/version one older than the current generation/version in the market. You can check the printer company’s website to know all the Operating systems and its versions supported by the printer.

Almost all the printers released in India support MS Windows as default. But if you are using operating systems other than MS Windows, such as macOS or Linux you might have to check with the manufacturer.

Features You Need To Look For In Your New Printer

                      • Automatic Document Feeder and Automatic Duplex

Automatic document feeder or ADF is an important feature in most of the multifunction printers. This feature allows users to scan and copy several pages automatically without any manual intervention. All you have to do is place the set of papers on the tray and printer would use the pages one after another. The ADF usually has a maximum capacity of 20 to 30 pages and helps effectively in minimizing the workload of the users.

Another important feature that should be looked for in a printer is the automatic duplex feature. With Auto Duplex feature, the printer prints on both sides of the pages automatically without your help to turn them over. This function not only helps save your precious time but also saves cost as you are using both sides of the paper and thus consuming less amount of paper but also the environment as it means fewer trees being cut down for papers.

                      • Wireless Connectivity

All the printers currently provide wired connectivity via USB ports, but some models also offer wireless connectivity via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and other printing apps. Using a wired printer is cheaper and more straightforward. Still, wireless printers are a better option as they provide users with all the benefits of the wired printer along with the additional advantage of the flexibility of placing your printer wherever you want without it being restricted by a wire. It also offers you the choice to give printing directions from your hand-held devices such as phones and tablets.

                      • Functions (Print, Scan, Fax & Copy)

If you are in a business that frequently needs documents to be faxed and scanned, then normal printers for you wouldn’t suffice, you need to own a multifunction printer. These All-in-One printers can do more than just basic printing work for you; they can also very efficiently scan, fax and copy documents. These printers are definitely more expensive than the normal ones, but the useful functions they provide are worth the extra money you spend on them. These functions are particularly useful for small businesses which can’t afford to purchase multiple types of equipment for these different use.

                      • Display

With time, the display feature of the printers has also improved significantly. The blinking lights have given way to the LCD screen control panel, which is developed in a way to help you in choosing the different menu options easily. The high-end printers are more advanced with colour LCD displays that also come with touch-screen functionality.

                      • App Support

Printing documents via your smartphones and tablets seem so easy these days, thanks to mobile printing apps supported by both iOS and Android software. By using these apps, you can send documents to the printer as long as you are connected to the same Wi-Fi connection. These wireless printers are expensive but are seamless to work with and connect easily with your Apple and Android devices that you’d never want to go back to the old ways of printing ever.

                      • Paper Tray

The size of the paper tray of the printer is one of the most ignored yet a significant feature to be considered while choosing a printer. If you buy a printer with a small paper tray, you need to load the pages in it frequently. This can prove to be a repetitive and redundant task if you undertake a large volume of printing every day. Some printer models provide a second paper tray to solve this issue; this way, you don’t have to refill the tray frequently and get adequate paper supply whenever you need them.

Choosing A Printer Based On Your Needs

                      Home User

Even though a home user doesn’t use his printer every day, it is still used for printing different types of docs that range from book reports to pictures and newsletters. And they want all this without breaking the bank. Home users require a printer that’s not oy versatile but also economical, sturdy and light-duty. A small ink tank printer that prints vivid and clear graphics and texts and is wireless comes with LCD control panels and provides adequate paper support would be a good option for home users.

                      Office User

An office user needs a printer that can handle a large volume of printing easily, quickly and efficiently. For a small office that doesn’t have the required space to fit multiple machines, buying an all-in-one printer that copies, scans, prints as well as fax is the right option. But if you are in a large corporation that due to the large volume of printing data need individual machines, a solo printer would be a good choice for you. An ink tank printer is a great bet for office users as it provides lower cost per print, produces clear outputs and is also faster than an inkjet printer.

                      Business User

A multifunction printer is a good option for small business users as this type of printer comes in both laser as well as inkjet models and is small and space-saving. The lower-end models are cheap and practical, but if you want a printer with additional features like auto document feeder and automatic duplex features, you’d have to shell out more money. Rather than using individual printers for each user, business users usually opt for network printers that can be shared by multiple users at the same time. They are also fast, produce clear prints and available in different types of models and price ranges.

                      Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Ink tank printer?

An ink tank printer is has a system where the ink is supplied continuously to the printer from the ink tanks located inside the printer. Different types of tanks are present for different colours, mainly black, yellow, cyan and magenta. These printers are more expensive than normal printers, but their cost per print, in the long run, is lower and the quality of the prints is great as well. In this type of printer, you also don’t have to worry about replacing the ink cartridge when it gets empty, and the tanks are big enough to hold a large amount of ink.

What is the difference between the ink tank and the inkjet printer?

While an inkjet printer has small ink tank cartridges attached to the printer with inbuilt print heads, an ink tank printer has these tanks located inside the printer. You also don’t have to replace the ink cartridges every time they finish as is the case with inkjet printers. Inkjet printers are not suitable for occasional printing as the ink might dry due to nonfrequent use and you have to repurchase the cartridge. Whereas in the case of ink tank printers, you don’t have to worry about the ink drying up and you can enjoy continuous printing.

Is an ink tank printer good for home use?

Ink tank printers are definitely a notch up from the traditional inkjet printers. They are reliable, cost-effective and produce vivid, high-quality prints in no time. An ink tank printer is undoubtedly a good choice for home users, but one thing you need to consider is your budget. Ink tank printers are more expensive than normal printers, but we also have to mention that their cost per print is lower and you don’t have to worry about replacing the ink tanks which is honestly a costly affair. Hence, an ink tank printer might seem costly to you initially, but in the long run, it will save you a large amount of money.

Does ink in the ink tank printer get dry easily?

As already mentioned above, the ink in ink tank printers does not get dry easily. This is a problem users often face with normal inkjet printers, and that’s why these printers are not suitable for occasional use. The ink, when dry up in these printers makes the cartridge useless, and you have to purchase a new one again for printing. And buying an ink cartridge isn’t cheap, this, increasing your cost significantly.

In the case of an ink tank printer, the ink tanks are located inside the printer; hence, there is little chance for the ink to evaporate and dry up.

Which printer is better to ink tank or laser printer?

Both ink tank and inkjet printers have their own set of benefits. All the differences between the two types of printers have been stated above. If you are looking for low volume printing and are okay with repurchasing ink cartridges every time they dry up or finish, go for inkjet printers. Ink tank printers, on the other hand, are the future of printers. They are more efficient, hassle-free and would save you money in the long run. So, if we have to choose between one of the two printers (inkjet vs ink tank), we would choose an ink tank printer as they are more superior than the inkjet printers in many aspects.

                      Conclusion

So here is our list of some of the best ink tank printers that are available in the market as per their features, functions, and price. You now know which features to look out for in a printer before buying one for your home or office needs. No matter which printer or which brand you prefer to buy, there is a product available for everyone that matches their requirements. Some of the most common brands in this comparison were Brother, Epson, Canon, and HP. These are one of the best selling printers globally that contain both the high-end features with low-cost production.

I love computer devices of all kinds! I am particularly interested in productivity devices such as printers. I remember my first printer back in 2008, which was an awesome experience for me. I learned a lot of things after that experience. I intend to share my experience through this blog. That way I can make others understand the nuances and help them to make the right purchase decision.

                          Hey Suresh,

I answered a part of your question on the other post. For the last question, my answer will be HP or Canon. Because they are the big players in the industry and they have years of experience in producing these devices. Epson comes third.

                          Hi Suresh Babu,

Okay, I didn’t quite understand your question. If you’re asking if you should buy HP or Canon printer, I will suggest HP 410 series due to less maintenance cos (performance-wise both of them are similar)

Other suggestions are HP 515 (costly and new improved technology), Canon G3012 (very similar to HP 410 series but good at photo printing), Canon G4010 (again, expensive but comes with ADF).

                          1. Suresh

                            Thank you very much John,
                            what i am thinking is
                            1. outer look wise i liked canon printers,
                            2. coming to cost if i invest more 4K i can go for higher version (medium range like G4010 or HP515)
Please finally advise one (Latest technology, print quality, maintenance, features, robustness (min 5 years i dont want to change the printer))
Thank you, your advises and reviews are AWESOME.

sorry Canon G4010 and HP530 (both are same price range 16.5K with ADF) please advice one among them as per above criteria. one again thank you for your time.

                              1. John M

                                Hi,

In that case, I’d suggest HP 530 since they offer more features compared to Canon G4010. And also they claim that they have refined the ink tank printing technology to suit better performance.

                            2. John M

                              Hi,

If you can afford 15k+ I would recommend Canon G4010 or Brother T710W (less than 15k) since they offer similar features for the same price. Regarding HP 515, I find the price a bit high for the product and haven’t heard any great news about its features.

                      4. suresh

                        Hi John,

Thanks again for you time, you are so helpful and prompt.
Regarding my doubts, the first reply seems satisfactory which is HP 530 among HP 530 and Canon G4010. But again confused with the below reply about canon G4010 and Brother T710W.
Please advice only one with the crisp of your expertise and my views shared. i will go blindly with your advice.
from our discussion my understanding is below about the three: HP 530 (16, 499), Canon G4010 (16, 299) and Brother T710W (13, 499)
                        1. HP and Canon are big players in market means trusted brands
                        2. HP having low maintenance cost and advanced technology
                        3. Brother is in low price.
                        4. among all three canon is the compact one (i personally felt by pics, and like this point)

                        Thank you so much.

                        1. John M

                          Hi Suresh,

Brother offers more features for the price we pay. That’s why I like Brother. Regarding the size, HP is the compact printer on your list. Canon and Brother are of similar size, but it will increase if their trays are extended.

                          My suggestion: Brother DCP-T710W

Reason: Even if you face a print head issue, the maintenance cost will be justified through the low printer price.

Reason for not picking HP 530: New technology, I need to watch it for at least six months to know if there are any additional benefits to paying that extra 1,000Rs.

Reason for not picking Canon G4010: Purely based on the current market price. This is a good printer. If the price were below 15k, I’d definitely suggest G4010.

                      5. suresh

                        Hi John,
if all features and specifications are superior comparatively with the other two, and only the price matter means no problem i can afford (once in 5 years). Please advice finally.

                        1. John M

Then Canon G4010 would suit you best.

                          1. Suresh

Thanks a lot for you time and patience John,
As per your advice, I am going with Canon G4010 since it is having the BESTEST features and specifications (latest technology, print quality, maintenance, features, robustness) comparatively with the other two (Brother DCP-T710W and HP 530).
we can print directly from mobile right? ( without wifi router and mobile app)

                            1. John M

Yes, Canon G4010 comes with in-built router.

                      6. Prashant

Hi John and the PrinterGeeks team,

Thanks for the nice and detailed article(s). Can you help me with my choice of printer. I want an Ink tank printer for home/small office purpose. So, it has to have an efficient Auto duplex printing as I will print a lot of documents which are 2-sided. Also, connectivity through mobile/WiFi is important. Budget is not a big constraint and I am happy with only a print option as well (I mean scanner and copier are ok but not essential).

My initial choice was actually for a budget laser printer but will need colour printing once in a while. Hence, settling for an ink tank.

                        Thanks
                        Prashant

                        1. John M

                          Hi Prashant,

Sorry for the late reply. If you don’t need scanning/copying you can opt for Canon G5070. Great duplex printer with WiFi and mobile connectivity. Cost is around 10k. Don’t get disappointed by the price, it’s the print-only version of Canon G6070. G6070 costs around 20k. Another great printer with good printing speed is Brother MFC-T910DW, which also have ADF as additional feature. ADF is very useful if you need to scan long legal size or letter size paper scanning. Another value for money printer in this category is Epson L6160. This printer also has ADF and duplex printing. Price range is around 21k.

                        2. Rahul

Which printer is equivalent to Epson L6160 in other brands. WiFi, paper tray, duplex printing, ink tank

                          1. John M

Canon G6070 and Brother MFC-T910DW are pretty much equivalent to Epson L6160. But the prices might vary according to the demand.

                      7. Rolen

Hi John, Articles on printers are detailed and helpful. Can you please suggest wireless single function monochrome ink tank printer with and without ADF option.

                      8. suresh

                        Hi John,
Bought canon 4010, but after buying friends are saying it will have lot of bubble issue and printer head issue.
Could you please advice. and they are scolding me for not buying laser printer in the same price range (HP OfficeJet pro 8710 all in one printer)

                        1. John M

                          Hi Suresh,

First of all, 8710 is not a laser printer; it’s an inkjet printer. HP 8710 was a great printer at the time of its release, but the technology is on the brink of expiration. Ink tank printers are much more advanced than regular inkjet printers. Cost-effective too. Early editions of ink tank printers had the bubble issue, but as of now they have rectified it and made it more long-lasting. I believe G4010 will be suitable for your needs. Don’t forget to use the printer regularly. Don’t leave it idle for longer than 1-1.5 week. Everything will be fine.

                      9. Rohit Sharma

Hi John, First of all let me compliment you and your team on the amazing and comprehensive review of Printer. This is extremely Helpful. I am looking to buy a mid-end/high-end Ink-tank printer in the range of 15K to 25K. ADF and Dupleix is not really important. But need a printer with AirPrint and preferably a paper tray. I am thoroughly confused between HP 530, Epson 4160/5190/6170 and Cannon 4010/5070/6070. Can you please recommend, which one should I buy that has best and most high-end features. Thanks, Rohit

                        1. John M

                          Hi Rohit,

For your requirements, I’d really suggest printers like HP 515, 419, Epson L3156, Brother DCP-T710W, which are cheaper than the mentioned one’s.

About the printers that you mentioned in the comment: HP 530 is the latest edition ink tank printers from HP. They claim that it has better print performance and efficiency compared to its predecessors. Apart from the obvious ADF and Bluetooth connectivity, I find this printer a bit overpriced. Another thing to notice is that its size, it might be the most compact printer from your list.

Epson L4160 is Epson’s cheapest duplex printer with good printing performance. L5190 is similar to L4160 except the printer has ADF instead of duplex printing. Epson L6170 is a more advanced version of the above two. Higher print speed and better print performance. Combining ADF with duplex printing this printer is an absolute workhorse.

Canon G4010 is similar to Epson L5190, a basic ADF printer with decent print performances. G070 is the cheapest duplex printer in the market (cost around 10 to 12k) A great value for the money product. But it’s just a single function printer so you can’t scan or copy. Canon G6070 is the all in one version of G5070 printer. Both of these printers can handle two sizes of sheets and pick the preferred size automatically (for example, letter size and A4).

Another one I’d like to recommend is Brother MFC-T910DW; suits your price range, great print performance, and it consists ADF + duplex printing.

                          1. Rohit Sharma

Dear John, thanks a lot for such a detailed and comprehensive reply. I am getting more inclined towards buying Espon L5190 or Epson L6170. On question. Do epson printers have issues with Mac devices/Mac OS.
                            Thanks,
                            Rohit

                            1. John M

                              Hi Rohit,

Some of the cheaper versions had shown small compatible issues with Mac OS, but they have rectified them. And I have never heard any compatible issues from the users of higher-end versions.

                        2. Ashish

                          Dear John
I am planning to buy Epson L3152 from amazon.
It will be used for home only. May be like 20 to 60 pages a month.
We had discussed this last year too but availability was a big issue so had to put things on hold back then.
Hope its durable, cost effective and gives good quality prints.
                          What’s your view.
I ll be buying using emi option so I am. Open to more ideas too but only from amazon.
                          Thanks

                      10. Ashish

                        Hello there John
Congratulations on very nice clutter free site with great response and great in depth info :)
I am on the lookout for our first printer which should be an AIO WIRELESS INK TANK printer for home use.
Usage will be around 50 pages a month which might increase once kids go to next class I suppose ( hence going for ink tank so that least amount of issues due to less usage )
Need an ink tank printer, with highest ink capacity, cheapest ink bottles.
Least fuss and noise, preferably around 10k mark.

Kindly suggest from a reliable brand

I am open to all ideas from you if you feel I should chnage my expectations and all.

                        Thanks
                        Ashish

                        1. John M

                          Hi Ashish,

Ink price is almost same in every ink tank printer – around 500 Rs per bottle. The problem is with your price cap, almost all printers in this range will cost above 11k, but not more than 13k. You need to check regularly to find the best deals since the prices change very often. For your price, I’d suggest

                          1) HP 415 – Wireless AiO printer, page yield of up to 7,000

                          2) Canon G3000 – Wireless AiO printer, page yield of up to 6,500

                          3) Brother DCP-T510W – Wireless AiO printer, page yield of up to 7,500

                          4) Epson L3152 – Wireless AiO printer, page yield of up to 7,000

                      11. Ashish

Thanks a lot John, appreciate the prompt reply.
A couple of printers from yuour list arent available for sale.
After posting my query I also did a research and realized that HP419 ( which is similar to 415 that you linked ) is the best possible choice, owing to track record of HP and their support network.

Whats your opinion about 419 and how is the print quality of HP compared to Epson.
But the biggest issue now is I wish to purchase vi amazon and 419 isnt available there . :(

Suppose I am unable to get 419 , which would be the next best option according to you dear , based on ease or use, quality of print, size of ink tank and price of course.

I am okay with stretching my budget to 12.5 to 13.5k
                        Thanks
                        Regards
                        Ashish

                        1. John M

                          Hi Ashish,

Regarding unavailability, yes you might have to wait for 1-2 weeks for them to restock printers, I’ve seen quite a few times they restocking on Mondays, so keep watching. About HP 419, it’s similar to HP 415 so I’d suggest you buy either one available at a cheaper price. Their hardware is identical. Since you increased your budget I’d recommend Canon G3012. The latest version of G3000. Great performance and customer service. The repair cost is low for both Canon and HP (HP has the lowest).

                            Dear john
Upon your suggestion I had purchased the canon 3012 but the printer was faulty so returned it.
I thought I ll buy in fk Amazon sale.
Seems like 3012 isn’t available on Amazon anymore and i would prefer Amazon over flipkart any day.
Can you kindly suggest a good AIO inktank printer available at Amazon now.
                            Would be grateful.

                            1. John M

                              Hi Ashisb,

If you are looking all-in-one wireless printer, you should look into HP 419 and Epson L3152. Both of them has good track record.

                      12. Ashish

                        Thats wonderful,
will check out what Monday brings :)
                        Many thanks
                        Stay safe
                        God bless mate

Will bother again if i have something to clear :)

                        Hi John,
Could you please guide me how to connect printer (canon G4010) to laptop or smart phone via wifi with out router. when i switching wifi it is showing DIRECT-EHD0-G4010series, when i attempt to connect it is asking pin/key but i didnt see the pin on the printer. please guide me.

                        1. John M

                          Hi,

Try this method, most of the Canon printers with display work with this method.

                      14. Akshay

                        Hello John,
In terms of printing performance (Print quality, speed,….) are Canon G1010, G2010/2012 & G3010 are the same?
How do weigh them against Epson comparable models?
Also, I read in your reviews that their printer head technology is different. Does it make a difference in terms of frequency of problems and costs of repair?

                        Appreciate your feedback,

                      15. Shounak

can you please share reference images of print qualities of all printers ? I searched everywhere online but couldn’t find a single print quality scan which is high res enough to analyse. please share the same for Hp / brother / canon and epson please. Also how often does one need to use the printer so that the ink doest dry up?

                        1. John M

                          Hi Shounak,

Sadly no one has an archive like that. I am trying to collect samples from the users to create such a repository. For consolation, almost all the printers have a similar print quality when it comes to document printing. The photo print quality might vary.

Ink drying normally happens when we leave the printer idle for more than two weeks. But I’d suggest printing weekly to be on the safe side.

                      16. Ashish

                        HI John,

I am looking forward to purchase an Ink Tank printer for my small retail business. I might want to take multiple high quality colour prints on higher GSM sheets (preferably glossy).

Could you help me choose between these 3 Ink Tank printers?

                        1. Brother DCP T310
                        2. Canon Pixma G2010
                        3. Epson Ecotank L3110

Even though their prices are pretty similar, I find its really hard to choose the most reliable and cost-efficient one among these 3 printers.

Also is it possible to insert sticker sheets for printing price tags in these printers?

                        Thank you in advance.

                        Hi John
I want to buy a printer for home with limited usage. Please suggest between HP & Epson which is best printer & model.

                          Hi Amit,

I’d suggest HP 415 and Epson L3156 if you have medium usage.

                        Hi John,
I want to buy a printer for home use ,with competitive price.
                        the must requirements are:
                        1) Should have Automatic dupleix printing
                        2) printer maintenance, after buying should be least.

                      20. Gopal

                        Hi John,
Can you suggest an Ink tank colour printer within the budget of 20k. My usage will be mimimum with printing normal documents, occasional printing photos. occasionally printing ebooks for MTech.

                        Needed features:
Print, scan and copy function upto Legal documents.
                        ADF & Duplex printing
Faster printing speeds. (atleast 10 ipm for colour)

with the above criteria, most reviewers suggest canon is good for photo printing and document printing.

One advantage with canon is, 2 different printer heads for Black and colour. also easily replaceable by the user. Is this a good thing ?
I see all canon printers have only a 2 line monochrome display. It that a bad thing? while Epson, HP and Brother have upto 2.5″ colour display. User reviews say canon is very slow in printing with less then 5 ipm.

I watch lot of reviews and confused with HP, canon, brother, Epson.
Is duplex printing worth the additional cost, considering the slowest speed for duplex.

                        My printing requirements are:
                        1) Printing B/W pdfs few pages 10-20 per week for my kid’s assignment

In this post you say that it has but in the post ‘Epson L4160 Printer Review’ it says that ADP is not supported.

                        Thank you
                        Leandro

                        Hi John,

Your blog is really helpful and one of the best.

Need your suggestion for buying an Ink-tank printer below are my priorities.

                        1) Supports Windows & Mac OS
                        2) Easy to operate & refill
                        3) Good printing quality with speed
                        4) Home/Small Office use (going to be used mostly for monochrome printing)

Kindly suggest. Thank you so much. Love from India.

Boicott canon. They rob you in spare parts. What a spare could cost 50 they charge you 5500/

                        Hi John,

I am confused between HP 419 and HP 516 as there are multiple negative reviews about 516 on amazon. Can you comment, which one should I go for.

                        Thanks
                        Anuj
