Best Home Printer Buyer’s Guide

An important aspect to consider is that in the present scenario, serious competition among various printer makers, for example, HP, Epson, Canon, and others, has constrained many printer companies to introduce new features to remain best among others. Thus it is not so easy when it comes to the time to make the right selection of the best home printer. These days, printers are available in different designs, along with various features, and price ranges. If you are looking to buy the best printer for home use, you need to have the right idea about the types and how it works to make the right decision.

To help you, we have prepared a small buyer’s guide, including some necessary things you need to know before buying a printer.

Types

There are many types of printers, but here I am going to talk about common types of printers that are used in households. Most common types are inkjets and ink tanks. Some of them use laser printers also.

1. Inkjet

Inkjet printers are the ones that print revolution to the households. At the time of their initial release, they were everything a home printer needed to be. They have a low initial cost and includes features like printing, scanning and copying into one single device. The major advantage of these printers is that they are really good at colour printing. Most of the professional photographers use a hybrid of inkjet and ink tank printers to print their high-quality images.

One of the major disadvantages of this type of printers is their running cost. The running cost increased due to the marketing tactics used by printer companies; first, they sell these printers for a low price, and then they tie us to their ecosystem and force us to buy ink consumables from them for which they charge a heck lot of money.

If you satisfy both of the below conditions I will recommend you buy an inkjet printer:

  • Has very low print requirement (less than 10-20 pages per month)
  • Not looking for a long term solution (for example, you just need this printer for 1-2 years, and after that, you might not use this device ever)

2. Ink Tank Printers

This type of printers is the modified versions of conventional inkjet printers. Instead of using cartridges to store ink, these printers have an external ink reservoir. The main advantage of this modification is that the page yield will be higher, which will avoid constant cartridge replacing. Another advantage is the easy ink refilling. For refilling the tank we just need to pour more ink to each ink tanks.

This type of printers has a very low print cost due to the significant decrease in the ink refill cost. The print cost will be below 50 paise for most case.

If you satisfy both of the below conditions I will recommend you buy an ink tank printer:

  • Print requirement above 50 per month considering that you will use this at least once in a week.
  • And you are looking for a long-term print solution (This means that you are planning to use this printer for more than two years)

3. Laser Printer

A laser printer is completely different from inkjet and ink tank printers. Even the fundamental technology used in these printers are different. Two of the major advantages of laser printers are sharp letter printing and longevity. Laser printers are mostly prefered in office conditions because of their ability to print documents with very crisp text. This ability, combined with the insane print speeds, largely help productivity in work conditions. Another thing about laser printers is their lifetime. I have seen laser printers which bought in the ’90s still working effortlessly. It is because of the technology used in these printers. It’s robust and very dynamic.

The downside of laser printers is their limited colour printing options. Solely, for this reason, I excluded laser printers from my list. The cheapest colour laser printer costs more than 25,000 Rs. Even if you were able to buy one of those expensive models, the colour print quality would be below average.

If you satisfy both of the below conditions I will recommend you buy a laser printer:

  • You only need black and white printing
  • And you are looking for a long-term print solution

Functionality

This is a straightforward feature. Based on functions, printers have two basic types. a) Single function which provides only print function and b) multifunction which usually provides functions such as print, scan and copy (some provide functions such as fax too).

I would highly recommend buying a multifunction printer so that you have all the essential features right at your home. I don’t have anything against single-function printers, I believe they are a ga great way to reduce the purchase cost, but I just don’t feel it suites household needs.

Popular Brands

It’s essential to pay much attention to the reputable brands, regardless of whether you’re searching for a vehicle, a fridge, a printer, or toner cartridges. Here are the following four most popular printer brands that would serve well as home printers:

First, let us look into HP. The HP company has been in the market for at least a period of fifty years. With a collection of low-cost printers at home or in the office. Their printers are tailored in such a way to perform better, therefore, cost less in terms of maintenance. They are also the pioneers of domestic printers. So most of their printers will have low maintenance cost and running cost.

Epson company was the first one to introduce ink tank printers in the year 2014. They were the first to answer customers who were looking for a colour printer which was cheap to maintain. Epson is well known for its patented MicroPiezo print head technology which will print out crisp quality images.

In 2016, Canon brought into the ink tank printer market with Pixma G-Series. The Canon company approves that the new models give the user the best experience with lowered printing costs. Canon printers are widely used by photographers to print moderate-quality photos (like passport size photos). So if you’re planning to print pictures, Canon is the one you need to look into.

The Brother Company was the last to enter into ink tank business (at least in the Indian market). From the beginning, their motto was better quality for less price. I believe they have nailed that part. With Brother Ink tank printers, you’ve got your budget-friendly printer that will improve your productivity.

Types of Connectivity

All these printers have got a provision for a USB 2.0 insertion, which means that all of them support data transfer through USB data cable. The printers can also print over a connection and a working network using the appropriate ethernet cabling, that is, the RJ-45 connectors. To make it sound more appealing, some of the products are wireless-enabled and have the capabilities for cloud printing.

In recent times there hasn’t been a popular connectivity option other than Wi-Fi. It’s portable and accessible by almost everyone. Wi-Fi printers very common these days, ink tank printers with Wi-Fi connectivity starts from 11,000 Rs. In my opinion, paying 2,000-3,000 more for this feature is highly worth it. We can access and receive almost anything through our mobile, and if we have a wireless printer, we can forward that data to the device and the printer will take care of the rest. There are two types of Wi-Fi: conventional single-band Wi-Fi and latest dual-band Wi-Fi (like in HP 515 and 530). Dual-band has much better performance and less failure rate, but for most of you, just a single-band would suffice.

Bluetooth has been another networking capability that helps to link your printer with other devices (Bluetooth enabled) to complete jobs. It’s still in its early days, and companies are just flexing this feature as a great connectivity option. I won’t recommend you to buy a printer with Bluetooth connectivity.

Print Speed

How fast a printer can be is a great concern for many users. But I don’t think home printers need to be that fast. Anything above five ipm would do the trick. Print speed is the number of pages/photo graphics a printer can handle in one minute (ppm). For the printer manufacturers to invent the fastest printer, several tests are done using the draft mode mechanism. Often (more like “still”) printer manufacturers give higher print speed by manipulating the process; to prevent this from happening ISO introduced ipm (impressions per minute) for colour printers. The ipm measurement (ISO) is a set of guidelines for manufacturers to adhere to when measuring print speed. Therefore, the speed of the printers must be uniform and at default modes when it comes to the speed of the colour printers. The ipm measurement is most preferred for inkjet and ink tank printers. But the laser printers still use ppm (pages per minute) standard.

Page Yield

This is the maximum count of pages a user can print using a single cartridge or full tank of ink. This just shows the capacity of your cartridge or ink tank. In short, this will decide how often you need to change the cartridge or refill the tank. If you are buying an inkjet printer, this should be a concern. If you are buying an ink tank printer, this doesn’t need to bother you since you could just refill the tank as the ink runs out. With the HP, Brother, Canon, and Epson printers, expect quality page yields.

Cost per Print (CPP)

This is a big deal, regardless of whether you are a home user or office user. When we mention the CPP, we refer to the cost per page. The average printing cost can be measured using dividing the page yield of individual inks (provide in their products page) to their total price. Of course, this will vary according to the print media, but this is the closest we can calculate when it comes to CPP. This is so much essential since it maintains the user’s costs of printing. This is where ink tank printers hold the high ground. Their print cost is less than any printer out there.

Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)

ADF is the feature that helps us to scan or copy documents using a mechanical feeder. There are a couple of uses to this feature, so if you have any of the following needs, you need to buy a printer with ADF.

  1. Scan multiple pages automatically: If you have a lot of scanning work to do, then this feature will come in handy for you. With the help of paper feeder, you can just leave a set of sheets in the tray, and the printer will do the rest; no need to scan each page manually.
  2. Scan legal-size or any long-form of paper: As you might already know, scanners in all-in-one printers cant fully scan legal sheets due to their length limitation (300 mm). So if you have an ADF printer, it can scan sheets that fit into that feeder regardless of its length.

If you don’t have needs like above, you shouldn’t spend extra cash on ADF printers.

Another minor thing to add to this feature is that there are two types of ADF: single-sided and two-sided ADF. Most of the mid-range printers have single-sided ADF. This type of ADF will only scan one side of a document, to scan/copy the other side you need to turn them over and run scan process again. With two-sided ADF you can scan both sides, but it is very expensive. Like more than 30,000 Rs expensive.

Duplex Printing

Much like ADF, duplex printing is another productivity-improving feature. Most home users don’t need this feature, in my opinion. This feature allows a sheet of paper to be printed on both sides automatically. We’ve got two types of duplex printings such as manual duplex printing and automatic duplex printing. Manual duplex printer won’t fully automate the two-sided printing; instead, it will give you instructions to print both sides (software assist). Automatic duplex printers will have mechanisms to turn the paper over and print it while the sheet is inside the printer. Hence automatic. With duplex printing from home or office, a user can save a lot and also helps one to come up with such neat and tidy sheets of printed papers.

Print Resolution

Print resolution is only a factor when it comes to printing colour images. When talking of print resolutions, we mean the number of details in a given printed object. In printing, a high-resolution image simply displays the DPI, that is, Dots per inch. A blurred image means that the number of dots at a given inch is low, so they need to be increased to give out a high-resolution image. Most of the ink tank printers have a decent print resolution, so you don’t need to worry about this much. However, laser printers don’t have a high print resolution, and this means that it is not suitable for printing images.

Warranty and Other Support

Most of these companies, like HP, Brother, Canon, and Epson, ensure the provision of warranty status and support for their customers via documentation that accompanies the products. Usually, the standard warranty guarantee for printer cartridges is 12 months. The warranty gives the user confidence as well as the right to replace the printer from any of these companies. The most notorious part of the printer to fail is its print head. All of the companies cover faulty print heads up to one year. If you are concerned about your printers’ warranty and support, simply check in to community forums or just proceed to fill some forms online with the relevant company to check for the warranty.

Usage Frequency

Depending on the workload, the magnitude of work can differ from one user to another. Looking at the different users, we’ve got low users– who use the printer rarely, and so, their workload isn’t too huge. Having fewer features can be suitable for your home, unlike an office that requires a printer with cloud printing capabilities, built-in security features, and complex scan, and print capabilities. The print requirement for this type of users is below 100 prints per month. Then there are medium users– who operate something like a small business. Medium users require some additional features compared to low users. Their print requirement will be from 500 to 1,000 prints per month. Heavy users, like a full-fledged office, will require huge products having the capabilities to handle many paper documents in the trays of around 1,500 to 3,000 pieces of sheets.

Printer Costs

An all in one ink tank or single-function laser printers- with no Wi-Fi capabilities will fall between 8k and 10k. These are tailored for one user and may have distinct ink closets for different colours. The All in One plus Wi-Fi will range between 11k and 15k, and from here, you start to experience auto-duplexing capabilities as well as quality yield ink selections. Those printers above 15k, are all in one coupled with Wi-Fi and other features like ADF and automatic duplex printing. At this phase, you get to experience higher speeds and proper handling of sheets.

Additional Features

Some printers also possess the ability to read from cards such as SD cards. Some accept printing directly from USB. You do not require to stress yourself up by transferring your files first to the computer, to carry out your printing tasks.

Thus, if you ensure to consider the information from the tips discussed above, then you do not require being confused while buying the best home printer. You have to be careful in the shopping procedure to get the best printer for your home.

Frequently Asked Questions about Home Printers

1. Inkjet or ink tank which one is good for home use?

Data collected from customer responses state that ink tank printers are best suited for household use. The reasons listed are a) Low running cost, b) Low print cost c) Equally good at colour printing compared to inkjet printers d) Easy to refill ink.

2. Multi-function printer or single function, which is good for a home printer?

Multifunction printers are best for home use printers. Even though the price might seem a bit high, features like scan and copy are essential at any households. Even if you don’t see any use of these features soon, it can be utilised many ways to improve productivity. Like you can easily reproduce a hard copy at any given time and digitalise hard copies of documents and photographs by conserving full quality.

3. Why does colour printers only four colour inks in them?

The colours used in a colour printer are CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Key-Black). The speciality of cyan, magenta and yellow is that they are called secondary colours. They are formed by adding two primary colours (Red, green, and blue). This combination is the cheapest way to reproduce all the colours with decent quality. Some printers have additional colours in their ink palette, but they are more complex and expensive.

Conclusion

To conclude, I want to tell you my story of buying a printer for my home use, back in 2008. I was totally new to this concept, let alone in any capability to pick a printer for my home use. After using my new printer for one month, I realised that there are some hidden running costs and there is no way to bypass it. At that time, there was no way to get a reliable suggestion. Now there are plenty. Read and gain as much knowledge as you can pick the best one suited for YOU, regardless of the rankings in the resources you find.

I hope my little article helped you to pick your home printer. If you have any specific requirements or doubts, don’t hesitate to comment down below, I will probably reply to them within 24 hrs.

I love computer devices of all kinds! I am particularly interested in productivity devices such as printers. I remember my first printer back in 2008, which was an awesome experience for me. I learned a lot of things after that experience. I intend to share my experience through this blog. That way I can make others understand the nuances and help them to make the right purchase decision.

    Hello John,
    Thank you for your reviews!
Is there a difference between the printing head technologies of HP / Epson / Canon / Brother? Are there any user advantages? (eg maintainability)?
Also, in any given comparable models of above, is there any distinct difference in printing quality by manufacturer?
Eg. Epson claims lowest printing cost, but are they the best printing quality as well? Brother is feature rich, but are they good in printing quality?

    Appreciate your feedback.

    1. John M

      Hi Akshay,

In my view, HP has an advantage over others in terms of printheads, because they charge the least for replacement of printheads. Apart from that, some of the known things about printheads are the following:

      1) Epson dominates the photo printing market with their advanced print head technology. Both their low-end and high-end printers use the same type of printhead, but I believe that in the medium-range printers every print heads deliver similar quality. Epson printer can also deliver good quality when you print a lot of documents.

      2) In the mid-range printers, users prefer Canon printers for photo printing. I still don’t know why.

      3) Brother and HP have okay quality. But Brother delivers more features in every price range. I believe that’s their thing. That’s why I rank them top almost every time for budget printers.

        Thank you John!

In terms of printing performance (Print quality, speed,….) are Canon G1010, G2010/2012 & G3010 are the same?
How do weigh them against Epson comparable models?
Also, I read in your reviews that their printer head technology is different. Does it make a difference in terms of frequency of problems and costs of repair?

        Appreciate your feedback,
(sorry for repetition on another thread, I failed to located this thread earlier and I thought I lost my question)

        1. John M

          Hi Akshay,

Yes, all 3 printer series has the same hardware except for the features (‘single-function’, ‘all-in-one’ and ‘wireless + all-in-one’ respectively)

Epson has a great ink tank printhead technology, most probably superior to Canon (Epson is the pioneer in ink tank technology). Epson is the only company that produces large ink tank printers in the market.

Regarding maintenance cost, ink consumables and replacement parts cost similar in both of these printers. HP has a lower price than these brands but only with printheads. In my experience, performance and lifetime of these printers are pretty similar. The major difference comes with pricing and features.

  2. Jeevan

    Hi John,
I read almost all your reviews on wireless all in one printers .
Had some doubts on it. I request you to clarify.

    1) Difference between Epson L3150 and L3152 wireless ink tank printer. And which one is the best.
    2) Difference between Epson L3150/L3152 and HP 419 wireless all in one printer. And which is the best.

    My requirements are:

    1) wireless( print from mobile devices) and USB connection.

    2) for my son ( school projects) and for me ( I am lecturer. So to give some handouts to my students.)

Note: not for all students of my class. But I will give them one copy , they will take Xerox of that copy on their own outside.

For this I need color printer with scan and copy function.

    3) to take some photo prints of my son and family . To keep it in album and some to be framed. ( For this what is the minimum size of gsm( glossy paper) needed to print photos/images?)

by taking above 3 points, I need long run with high eco efficient printer.

So by reading your reviews I filtered some printers which comes under my category( requirements) i.e., Epson L3150/L3152 and HP419. Or you can suggest me a printer which suits my requirements.

That’s why I asked you some doubts on these printers firstly.

    1. John M

      Hi Jeevan,

Difference between Epson L3150 and L3152 is that the software is upgraded in L3152, the older version had some issues when connecting with Mac OS devices. Epson L3152 and HP 419 are similar devices, some advantages of HP 419 is that it supports up to 300 GSM sheets and also has low repair cost (especially print head).

I would suggest HP 415 or 419 for your needs since it can perform well with both documents and colour images, plus it has a high GSM support. Even though you can print in a glossy paper that has a maximum GSM of 180, it is believed that higher GSM sheets are long-lasting.

  3. Zahra

    Hi John,
Been through the pelothra of information you have provided in amazingly structred way… that after being confused with as many as 6 models I have narrowed down my choice to 2. But still need your help to decide between these. HP 530 vs Brother DCP 710. I basically require for home use with not much printing load but would like to have latest features in midrange printer. My budget being between 13 k to 16 k approx. Kindly guide me through.

    1. John M

      Hi Zahra,

Okay, I can understand your requirement.

My opinion: If you don’t need the ADF feature (the automatic scanning/copying feature mainly used when we have high scanning requirement or if we deal with legal-size sheets which do not fit in the normal flatbed size scan glass), you should go with lower versions of these printers: HP 515 or Brother DCP-T510W. These mid-range printers are more than capable of meeting the expectations of ordinary users. Or if you wish to have the ADF feature, I’d suggest you go with HP 530 as it is a newer version with a couple of latest features.

    2. Jeevan

      Thank u John

    3. Zahra

Hey John. Thanks for the prompt response. Just another thing… Have gone through some very crass after sales service remarks with HP customer care. And quite a few product complaints too during my FB research on their page. Just need to know that do they have good response team in 2 tier cities like Nagpur Maharashtra too?
Your suggestions are of utmost value n can’t thank enough for your responsiveness.

      1. John M

        Hi Zahra,

HP has decent customer support. They have service centres in almost all cities (this includes tier 1 and 2). The service might be subjective to the staff working there. I haven’t heard anything bad about HP customer service.

  4. Mihir

    HI John,

    Wonderful info. My requirements are:
    1. WiFi enabled
    2. upto 100 prints a month (currently, may increase later)
    3. Duplex preferred.

Can you suggest between Canon E4270, Canon G3000, Epson 3150/3152 depending on the usage and requirements. Also, with respect to after sales support.

    Thanks,
    Mihir

    1. John M

      Hi Mihir,

Except E4270 other printers only have manual duplex printing which means you need to turn the sheets over to print both sides. Considering your requirement, you don’t need an automatic duplex printer. If you have or may have more than 100 prints per month, it is certainly advisable to buy an ink tank printer where you can save a lot of expense through ink price. I’d recommend Epson L3152 for your requirement since its suitable if you plan to scale your printing in the near future.

  5. ASHOK

    HI John,

Great and structured info. My requirements are:
    1. Next 2 months – need to print a lot ~1000 A4 sheets per month (mostly black & white ).
    2. Post that regular use for kids school projects 10-20 prints a month (colour) and personal use.
    3. Duplex needed as per requirement in point no 1(one).

Can you please suggest me some suitable printer based on these requirements. Also, with respect to after sales support. Thanks a lot again for so many wonderful reviews and prompt responses.

    Thanks,
    Ashok

    1. John M

      Hi Ashok,

Cheapest automatic duplex printers cost around 18-20k INR. Some of the cheapest automatic duplex ink tank printers are Epson L6160 and Canon G6070. Or if you don’t need scanning and copying, you can also check out Canon G5070 (print only) which costs around 12k INR.

If you can manage with manual duplex printing, I’d recommend Epson L3152 or HP 419. Customer support for HP, Canon and Epson are pretty much the same. HP may have the edge over the number of service centres in India, but I don’t think it will make any big difference.

  6. ASHOK

Thanks John for your prompt reply. I am more inclined towards HP printers so I was thinking for HP515 or HP 530 also as second option considered Brother DCP TC710 model.

    1. What will be your suggestion considering the requirements I mentioned in the previous comment. First 2months I might use 1000 prints(mostly B/W) but later it will be around 10-20 pages colour prints monthly.
    2. Is it worth to go for HP515/HP530 vs HP419 (I will prefer to use on MAC machines with wifi). If yes which one?
    3. Will you recommend Brother TC710 over HP515/HP530 ?

Thanks a lot for your feedback and honest views.

    1. John M

      Hi Ashok,

If you are comparing HP 419 vs 515, I’d suggest HP 419, since it is better value for money. Brother DCP-T710W is a great printer, I really love them because of the features that they provide for each price range. But if you don’t need ADF you should just stick with HP 515 or HP 419.

As for your monthly usage, as long as you use it for 10-20 times per month you should be okay.

  7. ASHOK KUMAR

  8. Sai

    Hi

I am confused with Epson L 4160 and brother DCP 710 printers. Please help me out.

    My requirements are simple
    Cost
    High quality
    After Sale service

    Thank you
    Sai

    1. John M

      Hi,

I’d suggest L4160 since it has the most useful feature-auto duplexing. DCP-T710w is also a great printer, but it doesn’t have two-sided printing. And from my experience, Epson has better customer service than Brother.

  9. Abhijit

    HI John,

I am looking forward to purchase an Ink Tank printer for my small retail business. I might want to take multiple high quality colour prints on higher GSM sheets (preferably glossy).

Could you help me choose between these 3 Ink Tank printers?

    1. Brother DCP T310
    2. Canon Pixma G2010
    3. Epson Ecotank L3110

Even though their prices are pretty similar, I find its really hard to choose the most reliable and cost-efficient one among these 3 printers.

Also is it possible to insert sticker sheets for printing price tags in these printers?

    Thank you in advance.

    1. John M

      Hi Abhijit,

I won’t expect great quality colour prints with printers in this price range. But if you insist I’d rank them like this: DCP-T310 (cheap and value for money) L3110 (only if you don’t use Mac OS) G2010 (again not supported with Mac.

  10. Amit

Please suggest between brother hl2000d at 9500 rupees and hp 316 aio at 9600 rupees, for student use, printing test papers, online material.

    1. John M

      Hi Amit,

Certainly HP 316. It has multiple features, instead of just b&w printing. Having a colour printer is always a good choice, in my opinion.

  11. anand

Sir, For my home use for kids projects and occassional document printing, which wireless inktank printer would you recommend.. Canon G3010 or HP 419 and why ? Low maintanence cost is another critieria, future ink costs…

  12. Harish Jindal

    Hello John,

I am looking for a home printer for myself and my requirements are:

    1. preferably but not mandatorily duplex printing. ADF tray is also optional (as if the printer is not duplex then I have to manually take the print on both sides, so ADF may not work). But still if you think ADF really helps, I am IN for ADF tray.
    2. easy cartridge availability online: I don’t want to drive to a local shop to buy the cartridge
    3. printing about 200 pages a month – so tank printer may not be really mandatory but open for it if you think its great to have tank printer
    4. budget around 9-15K, stretchable if something is really suitable
    5. color and wi-fi must
    6. I have mac, iphone and ipad. So, it should be compatible with that.
    7. I want the printer to be relatively low maintenance. Also, I stay in Gurgaon, so I want the service center availability (I am ok to visit, don’t need home visit) in case printer goes bad.
    8. Very typical constraint: my rack allows max dimensions (when printer closed): 440mm * 381 mm* 200 mm. Length max 440mm, width max 381 mm and height max 200mm. My rack is with a moving channel, so I take it out and then printer can open with paper holding tray and then I get enough width and height. The length still is capped at 440mm but after taking out, I get enough width and height for operating the printer to open the top rack or paper tray.
    8. My requirement is not photo printing – document printing in black and white and color

  13. Krishnamurthy

Hello John, I need your help deciding between Canon G3010 vs Epson L3150 for limited usage at home.
I want to choose based on below
    1) Quality of B&W print and copy
    2) Color photo
    3) Scan quality
Can you please help me choosing a model by considering above 3 requirement?

  14. Jasmin

Hi John, which inkjet or inktank printer would you suggest that makes least noise while printing. Have a HP DeskJet printer which makes too much noise while printing as if someone is sawing wood.

  15. asif haneef

    hello john
after seeing or reading about printers for the last few days, I think your review is the best I have come across.
with inputs from my friends, i have zeroed on HP 419 ink tank wireless printer, checked it at the shop as well.
    I have two concerns.
one, it does not have duplex printing. I then decided to adjust by printing odd-even, wherever necessary. what do you say? any model with features of HP 419+duplex.
second, the shop person told me that I must have to install HP app and open a HP account, to give prints. he said this has been made mandatory 2 months ago. and this is my main concern.
whatever little knowledge I have, I guess that the data first goes to the HP server and it inurn sends the data to printer for printing as it is connected through internet. it may mean that a copy of the data may be left with the HP server on my account. so how safe is my data while using WIFI, HP app with its account. why should there be a need to use 3rd party services for printing.

can you enlighten me on these.
I want to bypass 3rd party services and HP account. can I?
    anything else?

  16. Bevin

I am looking for a colour printer, duplex, with wifi connectivity and ADF. But my main requirement is low cost per page printing and good support. Which printer would you suggest? I print about 50-100 pages a week.
    Thanks

    Hello John,

Thanks for sharing your understanding on this!
I am a student and need 400-500 print pages monthly, and those too in B&W, could you suggest me a cost effective printer under 10k, considering the cartridge and maintenance costs.

    Looking forward to your reply!

Hello I was wondering – is tank system worth it for me.
I think I need to print like 30 pages both bw and color a month… or maybe even less.
    Occasionally some photos.
I need wifi, scanner, copy, manual duplex is fine I guess.
What would you recommend? I am worried the print head will break down before the tank will pay off?
    Regards,
    Daniel

Please guide on the best option

Good print quality, something that wont fade off with time as a lot of my printing is for long term reading and referencing. By long term I mean LONG term.
Good color printing for art and craft projects/also fr a very small side business.
Glossy paper preferably for photo printing.
Moderate use- maybe 200 prints a month
    WIFI enabled
    With copy and scan
    Easy maintenance
    budget 15 to 20

    2. with Wifi, Duplex Printing Automatic

I wanted to buy printer for my home. My usage will be max 10-14 pages per month. I wanted as much as low price printer. Please suggest

  31. Prasad Poduval

    Hi John,

This is on the duplex printing option in my HP ink tank 410 printer. I have recently bought this printer.

I tried flipping on long side with print on both sides option for manual duplex printing inside printer preference, however I am getting continuous printing with print on single side and pages seems to be upside down for alternate page numbers( as though I have given flip on short edge).

Say, I gave print on both sides for 1st 4 pages of a document under printer preference with flip at long edge option. 4 separate papers are taken with upside down printing in page #2 and 4.

Can you please help me. All I need is the printer to print 1st and 3 rd page in a go. Then, I manually change the paper feed to print page #2 and 4. This makes a good print from page#1 to 4 in a series.

I want a printer for home use. My max requirement varies from 5 to 10 prints per month. Can you suggest a reasonable printer?
