Printers, one of the quintessential electronic equipment in today’s world, have managed to make our lives so much easier. And the first brand that comes to our mind when we talk about printers is HP. For a very long time, HP has been making efficient, reliable, and budget-friendly printers for Indian customers. HP’s Ink tank series has successfully gained the trust of buyers who are looking for high-quality printers but aren’t too keen on investing a vast amount of money.

Three of the HP ink tank printers that impressed buyers and experts alike are HP 310, 315 and 319. All three of these printers mentioned above have their strength and uniqueness, and if you are wondering which amongst them is the best, we are here to help you. We did thorough research and made a comparison of HP 310 vs 315 vs 319 printers for your better understanding, and also to help you make an informed buying decision.

Differences Between HP 310, 315 and 319 Printers

HP 310 is the predecessor of the other two printers and is also the cheapest out of three. While HP 310 has been priced at around Rs. 9000, HP 315 and 319 can cost you around Rs. 10000.

Another difference that would catch your attention is the page yield provided by each of these printers. HP 310 has the lowest page yield, with 4000 black pages and 8000 coloured pages. While HP 319 has the best page yield, as it can print up to 15000 monochrome pages and 8000 coloured pages. The second best is the HP 315 printer with a page yield of 6000 monochrome pages and 8000 coloured pages.

Features

Let’s compare the important features of HP 310, 315 and 319.

Design

All three printers are made of plastic with a sturdy built. These printers are quite compact and can fit in even the smallest of spaces with much ease. Their looks are to be described as contemporary and sophisticated. While the HP 310 and 315 printers are all-black, 319 comes with a shade of blue that’s visually appealing.

The ink tanks in all these printers come as a separate section and are transparent so that you know when they run out of ink and refill accordingly. Refilling the ink tank is super easy as well. The ink comes in resealable bottles that allow you to refill easily without any mess or spillage.

Print and Scan properties

HP 310, 315 and 319 are all-in-one printers with print, scan and copy features existing simultaneously. Printing speed is the same for all the three printers, which is 8 black pages and 5 coloured pages per minute.

HP 310 specifications are very similar to 315 specifications and 319 specifications when it comes to printing and scanning properties.
The print quality of these devices is equally excellent. You can print fade-resistant vibrant pictures that will remain of the same high-quality even after months of use and being passed around. These printers support up to 300 GSM papers, which includes glossy photo paper too.

Ink Costs

These ink tank printers are a perfect budget-friendly substitute for the expensive ones available in the market. And the same is true for their ink as well.

The page yield for all these printers is different for monochrome pages, with HP 319 being the highest and HP 310 the lowest. The HP 310 has a page yield of 4000 pages for black and white prints and 8000 pages for colour prints. While HP 315 has a page yield of 6000 pages for black and white prints and 8000 pages for colour prints. And lastly, HP 319 has a page yield of 15000 pages for black and white prints and 8000 pages for colour prints.

Yet the cost per print is the same- 10 Paise for monochrome pages and 18 Paise for coloured pages. The reason is the different sized ink tanks available with these printers.

Compatible inks for these printers are HP GT52 Original Ink Bottle available in three colours Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and HP GT51 which is available in black. These ink bottle pack can cost you Rs. 2200 for the original version. Cheaper third-party options are also available from local companies, but their quality isn’t good enough, and hence, we wouldn’t recommend the same to you.

Connectivity

HP 310, 315 and 319 printers only support USB 2.0 connectivity; Wi-Fi connection option isn’t available. In my opinion, the lack of wireless connectivity is a big let down.

Drawbacks

  • No Automatic Document Feeder: The printers don’t come with the auto-duplex function. The auto-duplex feature allows users to print on both sides of pages automatically. This feature helps save time and effort, particularly while printing pages in bulk.
  • No Wireless Connectivity:  None of these printers supports Wi-Fi connectivity. This is undoubtedly a big drawback as these days, most of the printers in this price range or even cheaper are available with Wi-Fi connection.
  • Noisy: The printers tend to be a bit noisy while running.

Which Printer To Pick From HP 300 Series?

Well, this is a tricky question. All three printers have very similar features and are in a similar price range as well.

If you are a casual user who prints occasionally, you should opt for HP 310 as it’s less costly out of the three. However, it’s page yield is lower than the others; hence, you will find yourself refilling the tanks after every couple of months.

HP 315 and 319 will cost you the same, but the page yield of 319 is higher than 315. Hence, if you want to print a bulk amount of pages every day or want to invest in a printer with more powerful properties, go for HP 319. We also loved 319’s look the best and fell in love with its all-black design and blue shading.

Conclusion

We all would agree that printers are a vital accessory for any computer. From printing high-quality, vivid images to essential documents in a matter of a few seconds, these devices are beneficial and hence should be bought after considering a few crucial factors.

HP is a trusted brand known for its reliable, productive, and sturdy printers. And we know that choosing an HP printer can seem to be an overwhelming task because all of them look so great and effective. However, if you are looking for an Ink tank printer that is not only of exceptional quality but also budget-friendly and consumes low power, HP 300 series printers are a great choice. These printers work seamlessly, and with a duty cycle of up to 1000 pages per month, they are a perfect fit for houses and small offices.

I love computer devices of all kinds! I am particularly interested in productivity devices such as printers. I remember my first printer back in 2008, which was an awesome experience for me. I learned a lot of things after that experience. I intend to share my experience through this blog. That way I can make others understand the nuances and help them to make the right purchase decision.

HP ink tank printers are the worst printers I have ever seen. This is such a wastage of money. I have a hp ink tank 315 printer which is only one year old. But the printer is out of order by giving the error message. Even the service Centre could not understand the actual problem. At first they told me to change both (color and black) print heads. I did accordingly at a cost of ₹1500/- but the problem persists. Then they told me that the the device which reads the print head is out of order and it will cost ₹2570/-. I agreed to replace the device as per the suggestion of the service centre, Bhubaneswar. But the service center is yet to solve the problem since 26 September 2020. Hence it is not only waste of money for the original printer but also cause to make to spent extra money before you throw it to the dustbin.
